A Loader of Wombats, 2019
Carved Wood, Cedar & pencil shavings, Acrylic paint.
During the years that I spent driving between Ballarat and Bullarto South for work, it was common for my headlights to illuminate road kill.
These dead wombats have been ‘tagged’ with spray paint crosses to signify they have been inspected for pouched young. Now they can be collected from the roadside by contractors with a front end loader. In the interim they lay bloated, stiff and painted.
